Oh! I got one more opportunity to interact with a young mind yesterday. This is the greatest benefit i have as a teacher. So many young brains - energetic, courageous, innovative and of course, unpolluted to a large extent - are always available to be explored. Interaction with them is always refreshing and full of new ideas. But for this, some steps have to be followed. First, pierce their defence. Motivate / force them to be their own selves. Make them speak their mind. And then second, listen with an open mind. Don't allow your teacher to interrupt in between. Just facilitate the discussion with leading questions and enjoy the bliss!
I know that many teachers know all these tricks. They also replenish their bank of ideas following this process. I am also sure that it greatly benefits the young minds as well. They speak up, feel relaxed and in the end, they tend to know themselves better. A perfect win-win situation, isn't it?
Last evening, i travelled with a young mind. She is preparing for CAT. She also happens to be a full time working executive at a professionally managed and fast growing education group. After four or five aborted attempts, finally, i was able to make her speak up.
She began with the central idea first. "I don't know what will happen in future with me. I just follow the advice of the most trusted person around." I noted that the words 'most trusted' were preceding 'person' and not 'advice'. She continuously referred her daddyji to be the most trusted person in her life. I raised the question about the placement of the adjectives. And she gave me the most shining idea of the evening, albeit unknowingly, " How do you know the trustworthiness of an idea unless you try that out?" I tried to reason. But she was not in a mood to relent. " Sir! Aap hi to kahte hain na ki everything is changing. We can never predict the next thirty years of life and existence." I preferred to listen.
Yes, it may be true. We human beings are students of the most important discipline of study i.e. How to live life? We are ever evolving. Then, is it feasible or even possible to know ourselves? Doesn't knowing one's true self imply one's being a static fellow? Should i try to know myself as an individual or should i believe that every moment i can choose to be whatever i like to be. Should i know how hardworking i am or should i decide to be as much hardworking as i can be at a given situation? If someone tells me that i lose temper quite often, he probably means that i did lose my temper in his or her presence more than i should or need. Period.
Yes! We need not know ourselves. We just need to decide how we choose to be!

Kudoos to your thought sir!I agree!Nobody knows himself/herself since birth, rather it is the situations which compel us to behave in a certain matter(I know this as i am a young mind too!).But it is also a fact that nobody in this world can decide our intellect, our dreams, our knowledge and our calliber. It is we who know ourself the best and that is our power. It is always our choice to make or brake our goals,so give your best and leave everything else to the Almighty!
Agree with you sir. We wander from the cradle to the tomb, yet know not our true destination, which is not the tomb but rather the discovery of our "Superself". So, really we just need to decide how we choose to be.
Its actually AWESOME idea sir AKA chacha..by dis now we'll be able to get to know ur experiences daily which are i think valuable for any student.I have just read it n i felt so motivated..thanx for giving me such motivations so far from the home!!
Varun, I enjoy savouring the wholesomeness of your thoughts, always. The right mix of material reality, and spiritual needs. Keep it up.
Sir,
don't you think that in order to decide what to be, we must have to do our self analysis; need to know ourself. As 'what to be' is decided by 'what we are' so realizing what to be is as difficult as knowing what we are.
you are such a gud observer sir. i think it's one more apportunity for hr towards her succeeding steps.it's a witty idea to find out difficulty of student and then give suitable treatment sothat they analyses themself by UR real effort..thank u sir for givin me a very wonderful thought n dis great effort..i also give u thanks frm her to give her place in UR BLOG.
sir, i agree with you,you know, past 1-2 years i was entangled with my thoughts, two contradictory aspects..one is,as time is changing so are situations, so should we change ourselves according to the present situation? if we change, then how would we come to know ourselves,,or the another one,,besides all ups and downs of life we must remain as it is..as how we want to be..i am still working on it mentally,i have collected openions,of my own and others too..but still i have`nt made up my mind to complete it as what must be the answer.
Good morning Sir,
It's always a feast to the mind to have the toppings of your thoughts on the base of varied stories and interesting incidents. This Proton Pitza is nutritious and actually trims down the fat, accumulated during the course of any stressful day.
While reading the line above '...listen uninterruptingly,' the experience of talking with you today, flashed back. Truly, 'a patient listener to the problems,' seems to be in a danger of extinction these days. Thank you Sir, for listening with such calm disposition and also for offering advice and opportunity.
After crossing all turbulent seas, against all winds, it's hard to believe how the warrior ship in a matter of an hour, suddenly sank below the calm waters.
Nearing the surface, I begin again.

Sir, i agree with your thought that we all are thinking what to do in life and how we can achieve our goal but its our self confidence and firm determination only that leads us to that destination.
Thanks for sharing your konowledge and experience.
