Something very fundamental

I conducted a seminar on the theme 'Power of Positive Habits' this Sunday. "What are the three qualities that summarize the essential qualities of a corporate professional today?" I was asked by one of the students after the seminar.

This was an open question. There can be many possible answers. Many would be correct and suitable too. My immediate answer was activity, efficiency and effectiveness. Let us define them :

Activity : The ability to devote your time and energy to the job at hand. The more the time and energy devoted, the more active you are.

Efficiency: The relative pace and productivity of working i.e. output achieved divided by inputs applied. To put in very simple terms, it can be work divided by time.

Effectiveness: The results produced show the effectiveness i.e. the final output of the active efficiency.

This much is simple. But now the more important question : is there a choice between these? No. In fact, they always go together. When we are more active i.e. we work more, our efficiency also goes up. We tend to work faster when we practise more. Similarly, with greater devotion and speed, the possibility of getting positive end results also goes up!

How simple and interesting! The more we work, the more results we produce at a faster rate.

Time to tie up the lace?

Good Evening Sir,
Can there be other points like Optimism, consistency, team working skills, Decision making power and so on.
The session taken by you in the Indore Campus on 07/09/09 had amazing learnings and i feel we are directly or indirectly applying those points in our daily life. Thanks for letting us realize those points.

Respected Sir,
You have also taught us about activity, efficiency and effectiveness. But Sir I want to ask you one question are there any situation/s s where we might fail or circumstances make us fail to follow these these principles? for ex: I have been trying my best to work but some reasons of health are making my attempt a failure.
What would you say?

Seema : Yes, sometimes we are unable to perform because of some causes beyond our control. But these are exceptions only. More often than not, we can retain our positive traits. Thank you for reading and posting your comments.

Satyawan and Ankit : Thank you very much for reading and commenting. I am sure this medium can be very useful in discussing the finer points. Keep it up!

Respected Sir,
Thank you for sharing such a great insight. If we need to be successful we need to delve ourselves in to faster work with enhanced efficiency which will in turn ensure our growth prospects. My question to you Sir is that people tend to resort to short cuts most of the times and then too achieve success and faster than those who work hard for it.So, according to you whose prominence will be more.
